COMPETITiON RULES

1- All young pianists up to 30 years of age will be able to participate in the “VIII International Piano Competition Vila de Capdepera” if they apply to do so.

2- The competiton is divided into 5 levels. In each level, the jury will award prizes. The levels are divided as follows

1st level: up to 10 years.
2nd level: up to 13 years.
3rd level: up to 17 years.
4th level: up to 23 years.
5th level: up to 30 years.


The participants must be no more than the maximum age for their level at the end of the competiton.

3- Level 0 : only participation, out of competition: up to 8 years.

The young pianists who want to show their talent are invited to take part of the experience of playing in the environment of a competition. They will receive an present of participation from Art en Música Association, which with this new special level wants to stimulate and persevere the vocation of the children that at so early age, with illusion, are introduced through the music and specially with the piano. No prizes will be awarded by the jury.


4- The program for each level should be performed by heart and without repetitions. In the case of the free election score, the participants must hand in two copies of the score to the jury. The indications of maximum duration of accomplishment of the program will be respected.

5- In each level there will the option to award a special prize to the best interpretation of music by a Balearic Island composer. This choice is optional in all the levels and this piece doesn’t count for the duration limit indicated.

6- The jury will consist of interpreters and music teachers of international reputation. The jury will make the final decision on all awards and will be able to declare some categories void should a suitable winner not be found. The jury can stop any performance for time reasons or any other reason. In all cases the decision of the jury is inquestionable.

7- Each candidate may only apply to enter a single level in each competition.

8-The Organisation retains the rights of any recording and/or broadcasting of the competition.


9- All candidates taking part in this competition must fully understand and accept the rules of the competition and the decision of the jury. The rules of the competition could be altered under extraordinary circumstances out of the control of the Organisation.
